"Somewhere else", my submission to the "London Street Photography Festival"

After much thought, this is the series I submitted to the London Street Photography Festival. I doubt it will win, there are many very good people in the world of street photography, but at least the selection process always serves as a system of self‑criticism and meditation on what we see when we shoot, on what “moves us” while we walk.

I love to portray people in the streets. I’ve chosen this series because I want to show people going through the city absentmindedly, creating a space for themselves, their thoughts and pain.

They are staring into space, exhausted, feeling lonely or sad…they are somewhere else while surrounded by the city’s noise. The streets aren’t there anymore, not for them – they’ve escaped.

Now all that remains is to wait for the jury 🙂
